Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
The construction has officially begun for the health center! The contractor, the masons, and some residents of Sal laid out the corners and built a water reservoir to store water for mixing cement and for other purposes throughout the construction. In some of the attached photos, you can see the piles of stones and sand that have been brought to the site.
Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
Progress continues on the construction of the health center. The inspector recently visited again and made some valuable observations about the height of the ceilings. I'm attaching some photos so you can see how it's going. Thank you so much for making this project possible!
Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
I wanted to share some recent photos showing the progress on the construction of the health center. As you can see, construction is going well, and we are very excited for the end result!
Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
Construction on the health center continues to progress well. Now they are working on the wall around the whole compound. They've also brought in a drilling rig and have begun drilling the borehole that will provide water to the health center. It will be equipped with a solar pump. Here are a few recent photos.

Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
The health center in Sal is nearly complete! These photos show how great it is looking.
We can't thank you enough for your contributions in making this project a success!
Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
I hope you are doing well! Representatives of all of the stakeholders met at the health center for the provisional reception of the work. The inspector led them on a tour, and they all checked out the buildings and equipment. Overall they are thrilled with the work done, and there are just a few details left to complete. They plan to wait until the center starts operation to buy the medications, so there is more time before they expire. The contractor added a room to house the batteries on his own initiative. Here are some photos of the progress!
Thank you so much for making this amazing accomplishment possible!
Dear Tandana Friends and Supporters,
The management committee for the new health center in Sal participated in a training session where they defined roles, responsibilities, and procedures to make sure they provide great oversight as the health center functions. Two ambulance drivers also received training in safe driving and maintenance of the ambulance. The ambulance will be able to bring patients to the health center, including women attending prenatal checkups as well as emergency cases, and also evacuate patients needing higher levels of care from the health center to the hospital in Bandiagara. Here are some photos from the training.
On Saturday, the residents of Sal held an inauguration ceremony and huge celebration for the new health center! Even young people from Sal who live in Bamako and even further away came back to the villages for this important event. They toured the center, gave speeches, and did performances in the morning, and then continued with a collective dance in the afternoon. Here are a few photos from the day.
We can't thank you enough for your contributions to this project. You can see how exciting the existence of this new health center is to so many people!
